Dylan Bartlett & # 39; s (photo) body was found in an air duct on Monday afternoon

Three years before Dylan Bartlett's body was mysteriously discovered in an air duct, with his shattered friends and family looking for answers, his close friend was found dead in a public drain.

Mr Bartlett's body, 23, was pulled out of the canal on Monday into a toilet block at the Adelaide shopping center, seven weeks after he was first reported missing.

The unusual circumstances surrounding his death – which are not suspected by the police – share eerie similarities with those of Mr. Bartlett & # 39; s partner, Lochlan Brodie Mortimer-Shearer.

The 18-year-old was found covered in about 15 centimeters of water in a drain in the Dry Creek salt fields in South Australia, 24 days after he went missing in 2016.

He and an unnamed friend had been involved in a quick chase after they had stolen two Nissan Skylines.

After the teenager's death, Mr. Bartlett uploaded a tribute to Facebook, where he said he would never forget his friend & # 39 ;.

& # 39; I always think about you, because still until (sic) today I can't believe you're gone. You will always be remembered and never forgotten, & read the post.

Judicial documents say that Mr. Mortimer-Shearer crashed on a partition on the Port Expressway, drove on the wrong side of the road and eventually collided with the Salisbury Highway Bridge.

& # 39; It is unclear exactly how Mr. Mortimer-Shearer got to the point where he was located & # 39 ;, Counselor Stephen Plummer said in his opening during the investigation of his death.

& # 39; The logical conclusion is that after the collision, the stolen Nissan Skyline fled to the salt fields after the collision.

A statement from Mr. Mortimer-Shearer's sister described her brother as & # 39; from his head to crack & # 39; on the night of the crash.

& # 39; He scared me … he was pretty bad and buzzed, & # 39; said the statement.

Three years later, Mr. Bartlett was found dead Monday in equally baffling circumstances.

The 23-year-old was last seen on the morning of September 9 at his home in Noarlunga Downs – 30 km from Adelaide.

In a message that has since been deleted, Mr. Bartlett's aunt said she really believed that his disappearance would end differently.

& # 39; Unfortunately, this is not the way we thought it would end, Dyl, & # 39; she said.

& # 39; You were constantly in our mind. We received the devastating news on Tuesday that the police had found your body.

& # 39; How heartbreaking to think that you died alone and undoubtedly in pain. & # 39;

The South Australian police said they are still trying to figure out how Mr. Bartlett's body came into the opening.

Mr. Bartlett's friend, Peter Anis, told Daily Mail Australia that he was wondering how long the body had been in the air duct.

& # 39; We still have no idea and we have many questions that still need to be answered, "he said before concluding," many things just don't match.

He said he had heard reports that Mr. Bartlett's body had been in the air duct for weeks, but found it hard to believe it would have gone unnoticed for so long.

& # 39; How is it possible for a body to sit in a vent for weeks and yet none of the audience could smell the body? & # 39; he asked.

Anis hopes that time will shed light on the confusing situation and said he would remember Mr. Bartlett as a & # 39; good friend & # 39; who always had everyone back.

& # 39; Every time I saw him, they were always hugs and a long conversation … he would always stand up for his friends, & # 39; he said.

& # 39; It really hurts because he had so many friends who dropped everything in an instant to make sure he had someone by his side. & # 39;

Mr. Bartlett's aunt has also praised his stepfather, Troy Wisman, for all the efforts he has made to parenting over the course of 21 years.

& # 39; Troy, you were definitely the best stepfather of the past 21 years for Dylan and always there for him, & # 39; she said.

Wisman was seen on Wednesday at the Noarlunga Homemaker Center where he laid red and white roses in memory of Mr. Bartlett.

Another friend, Renae Coombe, told Daily Mail Australia that he was a & # 39; friendly, happy person who was always so sweet & # 39 ;.

The police were called to the center of Noarlunga Homemaker on Monday at 4.40 pm after a body was found in the air duct of a toilet block.

Officers identified the body as Mr. Bartlett & # 39; s in a statement on Wednesday.

& # 39; Yesterday I received a phone call and that was it, it was found, & # 39; Mr. Wisman said Nine news.

He burst into tears as he continued to talk about his stepson.

& # 39; I don't think he was trying to break in, I think he was hiding. I don't know for sure (why he was in the air duct), & Mr. 39 said.

He said this was only his opinion and the investigation is still ongoing.
