Just hours before the horror unfolded, Ash Good posted a photo on Instagram holding her baby.

The family of Ashlee Good, 38, issued a statement on Sunday after the mother was fatally stabbed in Bondi Junction on Saturday.

“Today we are recovering from the terrible loss of Ashlee, a beautiful mother, daughter, sister, partner, friend, an exceptional human being and much more,” it said.

“We appreciate the good wishes and thoughts from members of the Australian public who have expressed great love for Ashlee and our baby girl.”

Ms Good’s nine-month-old baby was also stabbed and remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition.

“We are very grateful for the expert care and attention of the Sydney Children’s Hospital medical team,” the statement read.

‘We would also like to thank the New South Wales Police for their kindness and diligence in this tragedy and the emergency services for getting our baby the care he needed as quickly as possible.

“To the two men who held and cared for our baby when Ashlee couldn’t, words cannot express our gratitude.”

Heartbreaking details have emerged about what happened the moment Dr Good and her baby were attacked.

Shortly before 5pm, a witness interrupted a Nine News reporter’s live crossing from the scene and pointed at his brother, saying: “He’s a hero, he saved the baby.”

The clearly shaken man said he used clothes from a store to try to stop the baby’s bleeding.

“The baby was stabbed and, yes, the mother was stabbed,” he said. “The mother came up with the baby and threw it at me.

“I just helped by holding the baby… and trying to compress him.”

The two brothers stayed with the mother while they waited for emergency services.

“(It was) very bad… a lot of blood on the floor… I hope the baby is okay,” the other brother said.

Police are attending the scene in large numbers and the Australian Federal Police are now in contact with the New South Wales Police.

Another witness, a mall worker, recalled seeing a mother screaming on the upper level.

“I see a mother and maybe her partner with a baby in a pram,” he told Nine News.

‘She is screaming very, very loud. She runs from one place to another without knowing what to do.

“Then she goes back to the stroller and picks up her baby and there is blood all over her back.

‘The scream was unforgettable, it was the scariest thing I have ever seen in my life.

‘My co-worker took me, we closed all the doors, we had to turn off all the lights and doors.’

Heartbreaking images at the scene showed the baby being taken away in an ambulance.

Just 12 weeks after the birth of her little girl, Dr. Good posted a heartfelt message on social media about becoming a mother.

“It’s almost too much to put into words,” he posted.

‘Love. The happiness. The fears. The new World. The new me; one I’m still discovering as I enter motherhood and complete the so-called fourth trimester.

‘It’s like feeling your heart fill with love as you navigate anxiety for the first time.

‘Feeling so proud and then so overwhelmed. The dichotomy of it all.

“Pure joy and extraordinary exhaustion combined with emotions you have never felt before.”

He went on to say that being a father is “the most incredibly beautiful gift one can ever receive.”

She added: “Sitting here feeling deeply grateful and still pinching myself because it’s ours.”

‘I love her so much.’
