Faithless have announced that they will be returning to the stage with their first live shows in eight years.

Consisting of Maxi Jazz, Sister Bliss, and Rollo Armstrong, dance music band Faithless found incredible success during their time in the spotlight.

Despite releasing new music in 2020, the band had been relatively quiet since the sad passing of singer Maxi in 2022.

However, fans of the band will be pleased to know that Faithless is set to return, as they announced new shows in a statement on Friday.

The statement also revealed that the band is working on more music, as the bandmates paid an emotional tribute to Maxi.

Eight years after their last live performance, Faithless’ first run of full live dates, including a welcome show at London’s Roundhouse, will take place in Belgium, Luxembourg and Amsterdam.

The band will then headline three of the UK’s major festivals: Glastonbury, Wilderness and Bestival.

It will also be the first time the band has performed since the passing of beloved frontman Maxi.

Of the tour and new music, Faithless said in a statement: ‘As many of you may have noticed, we’re back… Some shows have already been announced but we couldn’t start the summer without a little personal note.

‘Maxi died just over a year ago and we obviously miss him every day. Thank you all for your kind words of support over this past year. It really has meant a lot.

‘Meanwhile, we never stopped (couldn’t stop, never wanted to stop!) making music. Even during Maxi’s long illness, we recorded and released ‘All Blessed’ and now, finally, 8 years after our last live performance, we will be returning to the festival stages over the summer and are planning some of our own shows for later of this year.’

The announcement comes after Maxi sadly passed away in December 2022 at the age of 65.

In a tribute to the musician on social media, Faithless bandmates Sister Bliss and Rollo wrote on December 24: “We are heartbroken to say that Maxi Jazz died peacefully at his home in South London last night.”

Jazz, whose real name was Maxwell Fraser, was born in Brixton in 1957 and had a highly successful career as the leader of Faithless and other groups and as a solo artist.

Maxi had shared a video on social media just four weeks before his death playing his guitar, revealing that he was rehearsing new music.

“New songs,” he wrote. ‘Beware world.’

But in March of that year, he revealed that he was battling “health issues that had been affecting my ability to perform.”

“I thought I might be on top of things, but sadly not… I’ll let you know when I’ve regained enough oomph,” he wrote on Instagram, adding that he’s had to cancel concerts.

Faithless formed produced seven studio albums, and their most recent release, All Blessed, is due out in 2020.

They have also released several compilation albums and headlined some of the world’s biggest festivals, including Glastonbury’s Pyramid stage in 2002.

His performances were often seen as political in nature, and Jazz previously spoke of having to change lyrics about smoking marijuana in the hit Insomnia for being “too graphic.”

The group was nominated for a Brit Award for Best British Dance Act in 1999 and 2002.

Born in Brixton, Jazz also fronted a band of musicians called Maxi Jazz & The E-Type Boys and released music with the group Soul Food Cafe.

Pre-sale tickets for Faithless’ upcoming tour will be available starting Friday, with general sales increasing the following week.
