Fairfield West crash: Pedestrian hit by car and catapulted into air while crossing busy Sydney road
A man crossing a busy main road in Sydney’s west has been hit by a car and catapulted into the air, with CCTV footage capturing the incident.
Paramedics were called to the intersection of Smithfield Rd and Polding St in Fairfield West at 7.20pm on Thursday following reports of a collision between a car and a pedestrian, police said.
The video shows the man waiting at the side of the road, not at a designated crossing, before getting out when traffic appears to slow to a stop.
The 41-year-old man crosses the lanes closest to him, but when he steps out from behind a stopped car into the far lanes, a vehicle rushes towards him.
He then tries to run across the lane while the car brakes, but is hit by the car and sends him flying. He then landed on the asphalt in front of another car.
