A young woman who was seriously injured after being hit by a car while crossing the street with her mother has made a miraculous recovery.
The girl, whose age has not been confirmed, was holding her mother’s hand as they crossed a zebra crossing at Fairfield Gardens, a shopping center in Brisbane’s south, about 1.10pm on Thursday when she was hit by an SUV. Mercedes GLE400.
She was rushed to Queensland Children’s Hospital with injuries to her leg and abdomen.
On Saturday, her mother shared an update about her daughter’s health on Facebook and thanked the local community for their concern and support.
“He is doing well and fortunately he has not suffered any serious injuries and we expect him to be released from the hospital in a day or two,” his mother wrote.

They had to remove one of the wheels so rescuers could reach the girl trapped under the car.
“To everyone who was there to offer words of encouragement, to the people who quickly helped lift the car, to the first responders and ambulance, and to the lovely and dedicated hospital staff… we are so grateful.
“We are reflecting on how incredibly lucky we are to have received such timely action, what a miracle it was that our daughter is okay and that we have such a fantastic hospital and emergency system available.”
The mother added that the family sends their best wishes to the driver and that they hope the accident is just “one more” for their beloved local community.
Shocked bystanders rushed to the girl’s aid after hearing horrible screams when she was hit by the vehicle.

Witnesses could be seen supporting her mother as she tried to keep her daughter calm while waiting for ambulance crews, including high acuity and intensive care units, to arrive on scene.
A worker at the Carpe Diem cafeteria heard the girl scream as she walked from the location to her car.
A worker at the center (pictured) said: “I saw the little girl screaming in pain and her mother trying to tell her to calm down.”
He ran to the scene and saw the child trapped under the car at the zebra crossing.
