Facebook paedophile, 20, is one of 7,000 sex fiends who offended while on bail

A pedophile labeled a ‘danger to the public’ was one of thousands of sex offenders who offended bail, MailOnline can reveal.

Since 2010, more than 7,200 sex offenses have been committed by people on bail, and in the past six years alone there have been a shocking 652 assaults, 247 rapes and 177 pedophilia crimes, according to a freedom of information request from MailOnline.

Earlier this month, 20-year-old Dundee pedophile Logan Summers was convicted of luring a 14-year-old girl away from home to have unprotected sex with her in a tent.

Summers was out on bail at the time for sending sick calls to a slew of young girls.

He later admitted that while on bail he had again broken the law by distributing child pornography and contacting his victims.

Summers told his victims, some of whom were as young as nine years old, that he would “risk” going to jail for exploiting them for explicit photos and sex with minors, the court heard.

He admitted to being accused 19 times of having sex with a girl between the ages of 13 and 16, possessing indecent images and threatening to post pictures of young girls online.

He also repeatedly groped a 15-year-old girl in a park and then took her back to his house, where he pulled down her pants and exposed his penis.

All of those violations took place over the span of a year, from March 2021 to March 2022.

Sheriff Brown said: ‘I should refer the sentence back to the High Court of Justiciary if I consider that any sentence I impose is inadequate. The risk criteria are met.

“The pattern of behavior is such as to show that it is likely that, if at liberty, he could endanger the life or well-being of the general public.”

At the time of these later crimes, Summers was already out on bail after sending pedophile messages.

The 20-year-old would scour Facebook to target children living near him in Dundee.

On Valentine’s Day 2019, he messaged a girl: “Do you want to see child porn? I rape your ass. I’m going to impregnate you and rape the baby.’

He then sent her a photo of a child being abused.

He added, “Meet me. Then I’ll just rape you. I rape you like I raped a child I was babysitting.’

He blackmailed a 13-year-old girl into sending him explicit photos.

When she asked him to remove them, he said, “I keep everything.” You just have to be good and I will never post them.

“If I ask you something, I expect you to do it. I’m willing to risk it. You belong to me now.’

Meanwhile, Summers sent a vicious pedophile message to a woman after she posted a video of her nephew on social media.

He told her, ‘Let him lick your p*****. I’ll lick his cunt.’

He then sent her a photo of a young girl performing a sexual act with an adult man.

Yet Summers is just one of more than 7,000 sex offenders who reoffend while on bail for other crimes.

Last week it was revealed that hundreds of sex offenders in the UK had gone missing between 2019 and 2021.

Figures from police forces across the country showed that 729 sex offenders went missing over the three-year period.

Rape Crisis England and Wales boss Jayne Butler said MailOnline’s findings showed “something went very wrong in the criminal justice system”.

She said: “The criminal justice system not only fails to prioritize the safety and well-being of women and girls, but it also betrays the victims and survivors of sexual violence and abuse who so bravely tell what happened to them.

‘Victims and surviving relatives are repeatedly urged by the police, politicians and government agencies to report what happened to them.

“But where is the incentive to do so when they find time and time again that their reports are belittled, rejected and ignored?

“Anyone who takes the courageous step to share their story with the police deserves to know that…individuals and agencies within the criminal justice system will do everything they can to ensure no one else is violated or abused by the same person. again.’

The CPS told MailOnline that while it would “oppose bail where appropriate … ultimately bail is the decision of the court”.

The comments prompted a leading sexual assault compensation lawyer to defend the UK judges.

Alan Collins, a partner at Hugh James Solicitors, said the courts simply followed strict guidelines based on the belief that a person is innocent until proven guilty, regardless of what they are accused of.

Mr Collins told MailOnline: ‘It’s a problem. It’s a problem. But the courts and police are all too aware of it. If you deny everyone bail, where would you put them all?

Prisons are overcrowded.

‘The question is why so many crimes are committed.’

A spokesperson for the judiciary said: ‘Decisions on whether to grant/deny bail are made by the court on a case-by-case basis.

“In determining whether someone should be released on bail, magistrates and judges are guided by the relevant legal provisions and case law.”
