Alone Australia has been heralded as the most authentic reality series to ever grace the small screen.

SBS recently revealed the official cast of the show ahead of its March 29 premiere.

The cast includes a diverse batch of contestants, including an Army veteran, an adventurer, and a wildlife biologist.

Farmer and veterinarian Michael, 43, hopes his Christian faith will help him get ahead.

Engineering student and farmer Jimmy is the youngest of the crew at just 22 years old.

“I’ve spent most of my life outdoors and learning what I can from nature and seeing how far I can go on my own without having to rely on others,” he said.

“Ever since I saw the first episode of the first series of US Alone, I knew that this was exactly what I wanted to do.”

The rest of the cast includes Army veteran Chris, 39, bushcraft teacher and ‘barefoot nomad’ Gina, 52, wildlife biologist Kate, 41, lonely adventurer Mike, 45, the environmental officer Duan, 35, hunting guide Peter, 31, and planning and environmental expert. Manager Rob, 41.

Lonely adventurer Mike, 45, will surely do just fine

The players’ mission is to “live alone in the wild, for as long as they can, documenting their journey every step of the way.”

There are no camera crews or field producers, instead players film themselves through the use of tripods and GoPro cameras.

“Alone is the most successful factual franchise in the history of SBS On Demand,” SBS said in a statement.

“Only Australia will see 10 Australians dumped in a remote desert, where they will be challenged by the ruthless forces of nature and starvation as they compete for a life-changing prize,” they continued.

SBS already airs the original American version of Alone, which airs on the History channel in the US.

The Down Under edition was filmed in Tasmania with prize money of $250,000.

“There’s nothing like the Tasmanian environment,” SBS recently said in a statement.

SBS is so confident in the format that it has already opened casting for the second season, even though the first has yet to air.
