An epileptic woman shared the miraculous moment her two dogs noticed she was having a seizure.
In a viral now video shared on TikTok that has been viewed a staggering 16 million times, American woman Jaime Simpson is seen lying in bed while her two service dogs, Australian shepherd Echo and golden retriever Everest, relax in soil.
The mother-of-one, who has epilepsy, was on the verge of an epileptic seizure when the dogs suddenly picked up the scent.
Echo jumped onto a nearby table and brought rescue medication to Jaime in her mouth, while Everest pressed the emergency contact button with her nose to alert Jaime’s partner, Ruben, who was making sure she was okay.
When both dogs noticed that Jamie hadn’t taken her medication yet, they each nudged her hand and pushed her toward her.

“That’s why we record everything and travel with a home camera,” Jaime wrote in the video’s caption. “It is beneficial for defense and security.”
Jaime was also able to notify his list of caregivers about the incident with his seizure monitoring.
Dogs can detect a scent linked to epileptic seizures and can predict impending episodes, according to a 2019 study by the University of Rennes in France.
Jaime posted the video on TikTok, where it has been viewed almost five million times and has garnered thousands of comments.
‘Service dogs will never cease to amaze me. What wonderful little friends we have here on earth with us,” one person gushed.
“It’s amazing how they both performed different tasks and knew what to do,” another agreed.
Jaime has been training Echo and Everest as service dogs for several months, posting videos of the process on her TikTok account and revealing how they help keep her safe.
Epilepsy is a common neurological disorder characterized by unpredictable seizures. The condition has a wide range of seizure types and its control varies from person to person.
In the United States alone there are 3.4 million people who suffer from epilepsy, according to the Epilepsy Foundation. Seizure disorder may be related to a brain injury, genetics, immunity, brain structure or metabolic cause, but the cause often remains unknown.
Seizure medications are the most common form of treatment. They do not cure the condition, but they can help stop or reduce seizures.
