“Don’t open your mouth anymore!”: A confronting moment blows a furious Bob Katter at a journalist and calls her a “lilypad leftie.”
- Member unleashed in a press conference after being asked about an upcoming bill
- The bill would specifically recognize native Australians in the constitution
- The maverick member for Kennedy was asked if he would support Bill in a vote
- But in an explosive reaction, Mr. Katter labeled the reporter as a “left-wing city lily”
- At the Canberra press conference, he said the question “offended us as a human race”
Bob Katter has released a reporter who asked him at a press conference whether he would vote for a native vote in the Australian constitution.
The non-conformist federal MP described the reporter as a “city lily path left” after asking him if he would vote yes to the bill – which would cause a referendum on the issue in June next year.
It would specifically recognize Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islanders in the constitution, but Mr. Katter was furious when asked if he supported the bill.

“Don’t lead me to your nonsense,” he said when AAP reporter Kathryn Bermingham pressed this issue at the press conference in Canberra. “Continue to take us on your flights – your town-clad left-wing mindset.”

‘Don’t keep taking us on your flights – your city-dwindling left-wing mindset.
“I’m not going to answer your questions because they insult us like a human race.”
Katter’s anger continued when another reporter tried to defend the line of questions at the press conference.
“I don’t listen to people like you and that’s because you’re asking the worst question and this is definitely the problem we have,” he said.
He then roared loudly “I don’t answer” when he was pressed for an answer to the original question.
After the fiery press conference, the MP’s office for Kennedy in the far north of Queensland (Mr. Katter pictured in 2019) issued a statement in which he defended his explosive remarks
“Don’t open your mouth anymore or I will be very angry and I am angry enough now,” he added before continuing to the next question.
His comments came when the parliament discussed the Closing the Gap report – which showed that the country was on track to achieve only two of the seven goals aimed at reducing the health, education and employment outcomes among Aboriginal children.

They said that his behavior “should not be interpreted as anything other than passion.”
STATEMENT BY BOB KATTER ABOUT FIERY CANBERRA PRESS CONFERENCE
These are my friends. These are my guys where I played soccer with and against.
These are the guys I collected cattle with. These are the guys I worked with in the mines.
These are my people and I have been their minister for most of a decade.
I had to get the most radical legislation out of what would be the most conservative government in history and it was a cakewalk. And it was so easy to do.
All you had to do was go into the community and ask what had to happen! That was all you had to do and the government still won’t do it.
Instead, they run around to listen to people who are not black guys in every sense of the word – they may have a black guy grandfather, but they are not black guys – and these people say it’s “maybe” a good thing is doable!
And it might actually be good to do – but I don’t know because I’m too busy saving my people from dying of malnutrition now, not what could happen in another decade!
