This is the moment a man was burned by a fried chicken sandwich after the food exploded when he bit into it.
The bizarre snack-related incident was captured on CCTV inside a cafe in the southern Brazilian city of Curitiba.
In the footage, a waitress hands a customer a coxinha, a Brazilian fried chicken croquette, before leaving the man unattended at the counter.
As the man prepares to eat his treat, the coxinha suddenly explodes spewing its hot insides all over the man and the surrounding area.
Meanwhile, the heat of the kibble can be seen from the jet that rises to the ceiling.
Shop owner Christian de Souza Amaral, who witnesses the sandwich erupt, gapes in shock as the stunned customer attempts to wipe the burning filling from his face.
Mr. Amaral then leaves apparently in search of help, leaving the man in charge of his strange situation.
It was later learned that the client, whose name was not reported in local media, had been treated for burns to his mouth.

Mr Amaral explained: ‘It went off with a sound like a tire bursting. I was shocked to see the stuffing sticking to his face. It looked like a bomb.
And he added: ‘We had already fried the coxinha and placed it in the display case. This guy was already there, he was a customer, and he said: ‘The coxinha looks good, doesn’t it?’ and asked for one.
“It had only been out of the fryer for five minutes when we handed it to them.”
The bar staff provided first aid to the customer, but advised him to go to the hospital.
However, it is unclear why the sandwich exploded so violently.
Bioscience expert Dr. Laura Marise explained that if not handled properly, air can build up in a Coxinha and explode under pressure.
She told local media: “Air may be trapped between the dough and the filling and, during frying, may have expanded, but not enough to break the dough.”
“But when it was bitten, the coxinha must have released all that pressure suddenly, which caused the explosion.”

Coxinha, which translates to “little thigh” in Portuguese, is a popular snack in Brazil that consists of shredded chicken and cheese covered in a soft batter before being fried.
This tasty treat comes in a variety of sizes and can be found in most cafes and street vendors.
It is widely believed to be one of the most popular fast food products in the South American nation.
Coxinha was supposedly created by a young Brazilian prince who created the poultry-stuffed croquette to look like a chicken thigh.
