Travis Kelce’s aggressive outburst on the sideline during last night’s Superbowl may indicate he has difficulty “problem solving,” is “impulsive” and has anger issues, experts say, in a warning to his girlfriend Taylor Swift.
The Kansas City tight end, 34, shoved coach Andy Reid, 65, for removing him from the game, sparking criticism and concern among Swifties and Taylor’s friends, who said it was a ‘red flag’ for his relationship.
Now, a psychologist has claimed that the aggressive outburst may be a sign of underlying personality traits that “do not bode well” for your romantic life.
Canadian author and relationship expert Dr James Giles told DailyMail.com: ‘It points to a lack of interpersonal problem-solving skills.
‘It also really points to low self-esteem. It shows that you feel like you don’t have the ability to solve things any other way.
Travis Kelce is shown above yelling in coach Andy Reid’s face in the first half of the Super Bowl last night. Kelce approached Reid after his team fumbled and, according to lip readers, pressured his coach to put him back on the field.
Taylor Swift seemed to be having a great time in the suite while watching the game with Blake Lively last night. Fans have since warned Taylor about Travis’ behavior on the field.
“It reveals a deep sense of insecurity in the sense that you feel threatened enough that you have to overcompensate and respond aggressively.”
Dr. Giles added that the scene “points toward impulsiveness” in Kelce’s character, which is not always negative but can be unpredictable.
He warned that one of the triggers for impulsive people was jealousy, which could manifest in response to teammates or relationship problems.
But Dr. Peter Kanaris, a Long Island psychologist, said aggression was part of being a high-level athlete playing football, but it was unlikely to transfer over to his private life.
“We are talking about a world-class athlete in American football,” he said. ‘Sport itself invites and encourages aggression.
“(But) a lot of that is situational and not endemic to the player’s personality.”
Meanwhile, body language expert Judi James said Kelce may not be “mature enough” to control his emotions.
“Looking at his facial expressions, his bottom lip reaches chin level,” he said. ‘It seems like such an extreme expression of anger.
‘If you look, his veins are also bulging on his forehead. He seems like someone who has really lost his temper at that moment.
Travis Kelce also had an angry outburst on the field in 2017, where he was filmed shoving a Steelers player shortly after Kelce dropped the ball.
‘The other thing that would be very scary is facial proximity. He bent down to put his face right in the coach’s face and then presumably yelled at him, which is horrible.”
And he added: ‘This is not pleasant in any area of life.
“It’s shocking that he did that to a 65-year-old man who wears glasses and who can’t see or hear him approaching because he’s in front of a microphone and clearly focused on the game.
“It knocked him off balance and he’s clearly not the fittest… he was a vulnerable target for a 6ft 5in guy like Travis.”
Kelce has a history of losing his temper on the field.
In 2017, he was caught shoving a Pittsburgh Steelers player to the ground after dropping a pass that hit him directly in the hands.
In November of this year, he was also filmed having a fight with other players on the field and appearing to push and punch an individual during a game with the Las Vegas Raiders.
Travis and his coach tried to ignore the moment as it spread across the country, with his coach, Mr. Reid, saying it was “testing my hip.”
The coach also referred to him as someone who “keeps him young.”
Kelce responded by saying, “I have the best coach this sport has ever seen…he is one of the best male leaders I have ever seen in my life.”
But the behavior has not gone unnoticed in circles beyond the sporting world.
The Swifties were the first to get it right, calling the behavior a “red flag” for Taylor Swift and warning her not to continue the relationship.
And now his friends are also raising concerns, telling DailyMail.com exclusively that they “didn’t know he had a side like that.”
