CM Punk has finally addressed his controversial departure from AEW following a backstage altercation with fellow wrestler Jack Perry last year.
Punk and Perry faced off at the All In pay-per-view event last August, leading to the former terminating his contract while Perry was suspended by AEW president Tony Khan.
It was reported at the time that Punk had objected to Perry wanting to use real glass on the show, but, more than seven months later, Punk explained his side of the story about what really happened behind the scenes at Wembley Stadium.
He told Ariel Helwani in MMA time: ‘Jack came back from his match, I was the next match and I have people with me. I’m not going to say who they are, because I have a lot of friends who work there and I don’t want them to be punished for being my friends.
“I come up and say, ‘Why do you insist on doing this Internet nonsense on TV?’ And he said, ‘Well, if you have a problem, do something about it,’ and I said, ‘Come on, I’ll tell you.’ would kill, what are we doing?”

Punk addressed what really happened during an appearance on The MMA Hour on Monday.

After leaving AEW, Punk returned to WWE for the first time since 2014 at Survivor Series in November.
