Shopper furious after cobbler repairs her expensive Louis Vuitton bag: ‘He must find a new profession’

A woman is disappointed with the “sloppy” work a cobbler did to repair her genuine Louis Vuitton handbag.
The fashionista bought the design accessory at a second-hand store, but the strap broke shortly afterwards.
She had it repaired by a man who was confident he could fix the strap, but was appalled at the job he did when she returned to collect it.
Both the cobbler and his wife were unapologetic when the customer complained about the unreliable work, saying the man was ‘trying hard’.
Many thought the confusion was hilarious and decried the repairman’s efforts, while others were less sympathetic and skeptical about whether the bag was a genuine Louis Vuitton wallet in the first place.

“The purse strap was broken, so I took it to a cobbler to fix it. “Oh yes, I can fix that,” the handbag lover wrote in a after to the What I Asked vs What I Got Facebook page.
Instead of a small leather loop sewn to the purse to hold the strap in place, the cobbler punched two crooked rivets into a rough cut and unblemished leather strip to secure the handle.
The woman, from Pittsburgh in the US, has since taken the bag to Louis Vuitton to see if they could repair it, but they refused because she had bought it second hand and had no receipt.
She said she’s thankful she didn’t pay full price for the wallet now that it’s broken.
“When I complained, the cobbler’s wife texted me saying he was doing his best and was just trying to help me,” she added.

The post attracted a lot of attention and many shared their shock at the shoemaker’s not-so-handy work.
“If that’s the best the man can do, he should retire. That’s a shame. He didn’t even do it straight,” said one user.
“It’s not even trimmed evenly and the hardware isn’t sitting straight. If he is a cobbler and that is his best, he should find a new profession,’ agreed another.
‘Literally JACKED’, laughed a third and a fourth wrote: ‘Wow, would have been better off with superglue’.
However, not everyone thought the customer was right about a woman questioning whether the bag was a genuine Louis Vuitton.
‘Was this real!? If so, it can be sent to Louis Vuitton, just when you look at the stitching it doesn’t look real,” she noted.
Others stood up for the cobbler, saying the woman should have looked for the right place to have her bag repaired.
“ALWAYS ask for examples of previous work to see what their capabilities are. For any type of repair or work. And definitely research prior to paying for a service,” she said.
“Maybe not aesthetically pleasing to you, but it did the job. Maybe you should have gone to someone who works with leather and picked a piece that matched,’ someone agreed.
“If you had said I want it to look exactly like before, maybe it would have been done differently, but maybe you went in and just asked if he could fix this… and viola, it’s fixed. ‘
