The Case of the Golden Idol is a point-and-click murder mystery game that I loved playing in 2022. And now, it’s getting its first expansion named The Spider of Lanka, which will be available from May 4th. This new DLC offers three additional scenarios to enjoy.
The Spider of Lanka seems to be just as mysterious as the main game, according to the description provided in a press email. The new story takes the players back in time to 1741, a year before the first scenario in The Case of the Golden Idol. The players get to follow Albert Cloudsley and Oberon Geller on their maiden voyage to the fictional Kingdom of Lanka. As they visit [REDACTED], the Raja whose Priest has some startling information about the location of a [REDACTED] [REDACTED] [REDACTED] that can turn [REDACTED] into [REDACTED].
The description is somewhat vague, but from the few screenshots I’ve seen of The Spider of Lanka, it appears to have more of those delightful (and sometimes grotesque) old-school pixel arts that I love scrutinizing. Besides, I’m more interested in the artwork than the story itself.
I can’t wait to indulge in more point-and-click mystery games! The Spider of Lanka is available on Steam from May 4th, 2022. However, you’ll need the base game to enjoy this expansion, which costs $5.99.
