Malia stopped by French-inspired restaurant Zinqué for lunch with a friend.
After spending around an hour and a half inside, they were seen hugging each other before going their separate ways.
Malia’s flirty skirt with a thigh-high slit fluttered in the wind, showing off her slender legs as she walked the streets of Los Angeles.
Returning to her car, the copper-haired beauty, who recently underwent a hair transformation, puffed on a cigarette with the driver’s side window open on a rainy day.
The 25-year-old writer and director then stopped at Winston Pies to pick up some pastries.
These latest photos aren’t the first time Malia has been seen smoking in public.
Last month, the former first daughter once again enjoyed a smoke break with a friend in Los Angeles.
She was dressed for fall in a cozy blue cardigan sweater with a colorful geometric pattern and wide-leg dress pants paired with black lug-soled boots.

Malia is a writer and director who has worked on projects such as The Heart, Swarm and West Wing Week.
Barack, 62, started smoking as a teenager and he promised his wife, Michelle, 59, that he would quit before campaigning for president.
In 2009, he admitted at a press conference: “As a former smoker, I constantly struggle with this problem.
“Have I ever fallen off the wagon?” Yes. Am I a daily smoker or a constant smoker? No, I don’t do it in front of my children. I don’t do it in front of my family.
“And, you know, I would say I’m 95 percent cured, but there are times when I’m wrong.”
In his 2020 memoir, A Promised Land, the former president said that at one point he smoked up to 10 cigarettes a day.
He credited Malia with helping him quit, writing that seeing her “frown” after she “smelled it on her breath” made him determined to quit.
