Former NRL star turned commentator Braith Anasta has shown he hasn’t lost his trademark aggression following the incident at a popular Sydney pub on Friday night.

The NRL 360 co-host was attending a football finals party representing popular whisky brand Fireball at the Robin Hood Hotel in Waverley when chaos broke out.

In bizarre scenes, a customer pulled a fire extinguisher off the wall at around 8.30pm and began spraying the front bar, covering stunned guests at the event.

Daily Mail Australia’s entertainment reporter Ali Daher was present and witnessed Anasta stopping the man (believed to be in his twenties) as he attempted to flee the scene with one of his friends.

The Bulldogs’ 2004 championship winner wasn’t going to be swayed by that, grabbing the man by the neck and making a citizen’s arrest until police arrived.

Other celebrities in attendance included TV personality Dom Littrich of Inspired Unemployed, as well as reality TV stars Jackson Garlick and Dean Wells.

Anasta initially thought the antics might have been part of the evening.

“When it happened, I was in the bar… I saw the guy grab the fire extinguisher and I thought, ‘Are you sure he’s not going to spray that?'” he told Daily Mail Australia.

‘He sprinkled it on everyone, people were soaked, their clothes were ruined.

“Everyone was shocked and disappointed. It ruined a great night.”

Daily Mail Australia has contacted New South Wales Police for comment.

Earlier this week, Anasta posed at Coogee Oval ahead of the launch of the first-ever Fireball Bubbler, which dispenses ice-cold cinnamon whiskey shots instead of water.

“There’s nothing better than an electrifying game day with the team, but the long lines and mid-proof beers can take some of the excitement out of it,” Anasta said.

‘The Fireball Bubbler is an innovative element.’

Anasta made his NRL debut in 2000 for Canterbury and won a title four years later.

The five-eighth, who also represented New South Wales and Australia, then enjoyed a successful stint with the Roosters before retiring from the sport in 2014.
