Ten years ago, supermodel Elle MacPherson visited the office of Dr. Simoné Laubscher on London’s Harley Street with a swollen stomach and tears in her eyes.
As she approached 50, the Australian model no longer felt like herself and knew something had to change.
Dr Laubscher told Daily Mail Australia that she was surprised to see how dry Elle’s skin was when she walked into her office and that although she was “thin”, she had a “little bloated tummy”.
The naturopath and nutritionist formulated an anti-inflammatory diet for her, and a month later, Dr. Laubscher said, she came back a “different person.”
“She walked into my office on Harley Street with all these shopping bags and she was beaming, and I thought yeah sweetheart, that’s the Elle I know,” she said.

The Sydney-born model then went on to establish her supplement company WelleCo, which is formulated by Dr. Laubscher.
The nutritionist said she started formulating super greens for Elle before she started the company, so it was a perfect match.
Before seeking her help, Dr. Laubscher said that Elle was addicted to caffeine and sugar and had a lot of inflammation due to a leaky gut.

Leaky gut syndrome is a medically unrecognized condition in which the intestines tear, allowing partially digested food, toxins and insects to leak into the bloodstream.
It can cause symptoms such as bloating, gas, cramps, food sensitivities, and aches and pains.
Elle has now healed her gut by taking WelleCo’s Super Elixir supplement every day, eating a mostly plant-based diet with small amounts of fish, and eating minimal sugar and caffeine.
“She came to me over 10 years ago and we put her on a nutritional plan to get her well,” Dr. Laubscher explained.
“So, as a naturopath, we gave him a basic eating plan. He wakes up and breaks his fast with my wellness water (lemon water) many people are drinking enough water but not hydrating well enough.
‘Then you’ll have your nutritious protein powder or the Super Elixir (daily greens).
‘For lunch you have a big superfood salad with some avocado, beetroot, walnuts, and then you’ll have a hot meal in the evening, try not to eat anything raw.
Sometimes he has small wild fish and is careful where they come from.
“Elle has a chef, but it’s hard being a vegan and getting the right amino acids to eat fish, but not every day.”
Dr. Laubscher said her number one tip for people looking to eat like Elle is to cut out non-organic produce.
The supermodel eats organic food ‘100 per cent’ of the time, and while she used to be addicted to sugar, now she no longer craves it and has cut out junk food altogether.

“You should look for, at a minimum, organic or farm products, you don’t want added hormones because humans are evil and we do bad things to animals,” explained Dr. Laubscher.
“So when it comes to fish, you don’t want farmed fish, because they also have hormones. You want wild fish, and it is better to eat less and better quality protein.
‘An easy protein option is organic eggs, it’s not expensive, you can get that instead of organic chicken because it’s a little expensive with the cost of living.
“Look at your labels and stuff too, but really try to improve the quality, so you eat less and have higher quality.”
