In celebration of the upcoming physical and digital release of Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, IGN is excited to exclusively share with you a deleted scene from the film, and a behind-the-scenes clip showing how the team managed to resurrect the dead.
Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves is now available as a Premium Video-On-Demand and digital purchase from Paramount Home Entertainment. It will next be released on 4K Ultra HD SteelBook, 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD on May 30th.
As for the exclusive clips, which will be part of the bonus scenes coming with the digital release, the first features a deleted scene of the undead character “Corpse 6” who shares some of his favorite recommendations for poetry, plays, and travel chronicles. The deleted scene is incomplete, so fans have a chance to see the action-packed set in front of a blue screen and two crew members moving the corpse’s arms for it before they are digitally removed.
The second clip, a behind-the-scenes clip, focuses on how the team resurrects Corpse 6 and the rest of the dead. It’s a fascinating look at how a combination of prosthetics, movable skeletal arms, and makeup helped make these undead real in a way that digital photos sometimes can’t.
The team also reveals how the coffin’s “magic box tricks” were used to allow the crew to access planks for the necromancer’s puppeteer, along with cobweb guns, moss and even real worms to render convincing realistic effects for the fictional beings.
In our review of Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves we said, “It may not be as epic as The Lord of the Rings or as intrigue-filled as Game of Thrones, but there’s nothing wrong with being a comedy between action-fantasy and adventure.” The authors show Directors John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein bring their passion for the popular tabletop game through a sense of humor that simultaneously satirizes and respects D&D culture everywhere.”
