EXCLUSIVE: Bob Saget’s widow Kelly Rizzo lays bare ongoing grief over his sudden death – as she reveals she’s not focused on being ‘robbed’ of time with him after he died aged 65

Date:

Kelly Rizzo has opened up about her ongoing grief for her late husband Bob Saget, admitting she wishes people wouldn’t tell her she was “robbed” by his death.

Full House star Bob died at the age of 65 on January 9, 2022, from a freak head injury in his Florida hotel room, hours after leaving the stage following a stand-up show.

His funeral took place less than a week later in Los Angeles, and he was buried at Mount Sinai Memorial Park Cemetery, near the graves of his parents and sister.

Widowed Kelly, 44, recalled to DailyMail.com how she tried to stay positive over a remark made by one of Bob’s friends at his funeral.

“I had a really good friend of Bob’s at his funeral, I remember he looked at me and he said, ‘You’ve been robbed. It is not fair. You got robbed,” she said.

“Even from the beginning, I can’t think like that. I don’t want to think like that because I only focus on the negative and I want to focus on the positive.

When asked how she was coping with the loss, she continued, “Really being surrounded by an incredible support system and just being grateful, instead of being upset that I didn’t have more time, d ‘just being grateful for the time that I had, and that’s really what’s helped me get through it since day one.

Bob – a stand-up comedian, actor and television host best known for his work on America’s Funniest Home Videos and Full House – was found dead at the Ritz-Carlton Orlando hotel.

According to the coroner, he died in his sleep after suffering a subdural hematoma and subarachnoid hemorrhage, likely due to an accidental blow to the back of the head, most likely a fall.

His Full House costars John Stamos, Dave Coulier, Candace Cameron Bure, Jodie Sweeten, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, as well as friends and colleagues including Jimmy Kimmel, Dave Chappelle, Chris Rock and John Mayer, attended his funeral.

Kelly met Bob in 2015, and the couple married three years later.

It was the comedian’s second marriage, after Sherri Kramer to whom he was married for 15 years starting in 1982.

The couple have daughters Aubrey, 36, Lara, 33, and Jennifer, 30.

In May, Kelly marked what would have been her husband’s 67th birthday with a touching tribute.

Taking to Instagram, she revealed she would be enjoying a cold extra dry dirty martini with blue cheese olives in his honor.

“Happy birthday,” she wrote.

“It really never gets less strange or surreal. But the gratitude grows every day.

“I will never stop feeling like the luckiest person on Earth to have had the privilege of spending 6 years with this extraordinary man.

“Life is short and we never know how long we will stay here.

“And I am always comforted by the fact that Bob used every minute he was on this planet to enjoy life to the fullest and make the world a better place.”

She tries to

She tries to “focus on the positive” after the sudden loss of her husband.

“To celebrate Bob’s birthday, do what he would do… tell everyone you love that you love them, preferably in a very long, wordy voice text dictated by Siri.

“I’m going to celebrate today by having a very cold, extra dry dirty martini with blue cheese olives (IYKYK). And I hope he’s partying up there with a huge cigar (his favorite thing), a martini and a few dozen oysters sitting on a beach. He would love that. Thank you all for still loving Bob so much.

The post included images from their relationship, including a sweet snap of Kelly kissing her partner and numerous photos of him enjoying a cigar.

Kelly is one of 14 celebrities — including Dance Moms star JoJo Siwa, 20, actress Tara Reid, 47, and model Blac Chyna, 35 — competing on the upcoming season of Special Forces: the toughest test in the world.

“I wasn’t afraid of real challenges,” she admitted. “What scared me was the endurance factor and sleep.

“How am I going to sleep in a room with so many people?” These are the two things that scared me when I embarked on this adventure.

“What was easy, I think, was bonding with the other recruits. There were no weird or embarrassing situations. Everyone got along very well.
