In a later interview with Hollywood Authentic, Sean revealed that he was not happy about the split.
The actor was honest about his relationship problems, even going so far as to say that he “ruined the marriage” because he was “very negligent.”
He said: “There is a woman I am so in love with, Leila George, who I only see every day now, because I ruined the marriage.”
“We were technically married for a year, but for five years, I was a very negligent guy.”
The two-time Academy Award winner, who said he never cheated, added that “I allowed myself to think that my place in so many other things was very important.”
“That included my place being totally depressed and driven to alcohol and Ambien at 11 in the morning, watching the news, watching the Trump era, watching it and despairing.”
Sean said he “doesn’t know” what the future holds for him and Leila, but said he has worked through what he considers issues with himself during their relationship.
