A former Scientologist has claimed that Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis didn’t know their letters of support for Danny Masterson would be made public – and that Kutcher “knows damn well what kind of guy he was.”
Aaron Smith-Levin, who grew up in the Church of Scientology, said he speaks to Masterson’s rape victims daily. The actor was convicted of raping two women in the 2000s and sentenced to 30 years to life in prison.
He told NewsNation’s Chris Cuomo that Ashton Kutcher knew “very well” the type of person Masterson found guilty of rape when he wrote a character reference for his That ’70s Show co-star.
Mila and her husband Ashton called their friend Danny an “extraordinarily honest” person who has a “huge positive influence” on the people around him.
But Kutcher’s hands are also “dirty,” says Smith-Levin.

Dishonored: Ashton and Mila wrote letters to the judge in Danny Masterson’s case, vouching for his character, sparking backlash from fans
Smith-Levin said, “I think when Ashton says it was supposed to be read by the judge, what he really means is that we didn’t think anyone would see these letters. And if you actually read the letters, it doesn’t just say, oh, you know, think about his poor daughter, you know, his daughter shouldn’t grow up without a father for more than 15 years.
“The letters went so far as to say that Danny Masterson was essentially the kindest, gentlest, most gracious person I have ever known. I never knew him as anything other than a wonderful person.
“And that’s just not true. Ashton’s hands are pretty dirty because of his complicity in some of the behavior Danny Masterson has exhibited over the past 30 years. Danny Masterson was one of his closest friends.
“Ashton Kutcher knows very well what kind of guy Danny Masterson was. I mean, if you read the letters, it’s shocking.
Speaking about Kunis’ involvement, he said: “I think Mila Kunis is someone who was abused herself from a very young age.
“She was 14 when she started on this show, Danny was 22 or 23, Ashton Kutcher was 19.
“Some of the things that have come out on social media over the last few days have been extremely inappropriate sexual behavior between band members, mostly involving Mila. So it’s hard for me to condemn or blame Mila too much, honestly.
“But it’s very easy to blame, Ashton.”
Aaron Smith-Levin added: “One of the things that has been thoroughly documented in this case is that as Scientologist drugging and violently raping other members is not enough to get you kicked out, but telling the authorities that you were raped by a Scientologist is enough to get you kicked out.

Masterson was sentenced to 30 years to life in prison earlier this week after a jury found him guilty of raping two women in the early 2000s.
In the short video that husband and wife Ashton, 45, and Mila, 40, posted following the outrage, he said: “We are aware of the pain that has been caused by the letters that we wrote on behalf of Danny Masterson.
“We support the victims,” Mila added. “We have done this historically through our work and will continue to do so in the future.”
Ashton continued: “A few months ago Danny’s family contacted us and asked us to write character letters to represent the person we had known for 25 years so that the judge could take them fully into account when deciding sentencing.”
Mila added: “The letters were not written to question the legitimacy of the justice system or the validity of the jury’s decision.”
“They were intended to be read by the judge. And not to undermine the victims’ testimonies or re-traumatize them in any way.
“We would never want to do that. And we are sorry if this happened,” Ashton stressed.
“Our thoughts go out to every person who has ever been a victim of sexual assault, sexual abuse or rape,” Mila said to conclude her statement.

Mila Kunis and Danny Masterson were co-stars and on-screen lovers for a while

Ashton Kutcher and Danny Masterson have been friends for 25 years

Mila and Ashton met on set and rekindled their relationship years later in real life
Masterson was sentenced last week to 30 years in prison, or up to life, after a jury found him guilty of raping two women in the early 2000s.
Since the cast’s letters were published, fans have reacted with outrage online.
One former supporter wrote on a recent Kutcher Instagram post: “I’m not a fan of cancel culture, but I’m making an exception for you two.”
Someone else added: “Hard to pass up. How the mighty have fallen.’
The couple supported their former That 70s Show bandmate by making individual submissions to the court, despite having already been convicted of raping two women.
In the letters obtained by DailyMail.com, Kunis and Kutcher – who is credited as co-founder and board chairman of a non-profit organization meant to help combat child sexual exploitation – made the Masterson’s praise, saying he “always treated people with decency, equality and generosity.
In his letter to the judge, Kutcher wrote: “He is an extraordinarily honest and intentional human being.
“In our 25 years of relationship, I don’t remember him ever lying to me. He taught me to be direct and to face the problems of life and relationships head on, to solve them and to move forward.
“Danny is a person who is always there for you when you need him.
“Not only is he a good friend to me, but I have seen him be a good friend to others and the kind of brother others would be lucky to have.”
Kunis, who has been married to Kutcher for eight years, said she vouched “wholeheartedly” for Masterson’s “exceptional character” and the “tremendous positive influence” he had on those around him, including She.
Kunis said, “Danny Masterson’s warmth, humor and positive outlook on life have been a driving force in the formation of my character and the way I approach life’s challenges.
She went on to claim that Masterson is an “outstanding role model” and celebrated his strength in staying away from drugs.
“His dedication to avoiding all substances inspired me, but also countless others around us,” Kunis wrote.
“Danny’s determination to promote a drug-free lifestyle has been a common thread throughout my journey in the entertainment world and has helped me prioritize my well-being and focus on responsible choices.”
She continued: “His unwavering commitment to being an exceptional older brother to me had a transformative impact on my life, instilling in me a sense of self-confidence and encouraging me to strive for greatness, but while maintaining a sense of ‘humility…’
“His dedication to living a drug-free life and his sincere care for others make him an exceptional role model and friend.”
