LeSean McCoy insisted that Brock Purdy should not have given trucks to his offensive line

LeSean McCoy openly questioned why Brock Purdy gave Toyota Trucks to his offensive linemen in the middle of the 49ers’ difficult season.

Purdy, who helped the Niners reach the Super Bowl in his first full season as starting quarterback last year, surprised the O-line with some expensive new wheels despite his struggles in 2024.

In a clip released by the team, the 24-year-old can be seen entering a meeting room and breaking the news to his teammates, before inviting them out to find their white vans waiting with red Christmas bows on the hoods. .

During Friday’s installment of The Facility Group Chat, McCoy criticized Purdy for giving away his linemen even though they failed to protect him from defenses for most of this season.

“When I was playing and guys were doing things for me, I was taking care of my linemen,” McCoy opened the segment. ‘

“All the Rollies, baby,” he added, noting how he gave Rolex to his teammates.

Purdy left his teammates stunned in the video

But fans are convinced he didn't buy them himself.

The 49ers posted a video of Purdy giving his teammates the new Toyota trucks.

“This is what I don’t understand with Purdy, though,” McCoy continued. ‘Respect because I like what he’s doing, but why are you buying this from these guys? It’s not like they’re blocking you. It’s not like you’re doing it right. They’re not even doing well.

When his fellow panelists insisted that the hotline “still deserves gifts,” McCoy quickly responded by saying, “For what?”

‘You’ve been bad all year. If your girlfriend has been bad all year, does she deserve a gift for Christmas?

So far this season, Purdy has completed 247 of 380 pass attempts for 4,280 yards and 15 touchdowns in 13 games. During his NFC winning streak last year, he completed 308 of 444 passes for 4,280 yards and 31 touchdowns, so hitting those numbers with three games remaining was a long shot.

As the Iowa State product struggles, the 49ers have fallen to the bottom of the NFC West with a 6-8 record.

After the video of Purdy gifting his teammates was posted, X users pointed out that Purdy’s salary in San Francisco far exceeds that of the team’s five starting offensive linemen.

According to Spotrac, the quarterback is making $934,252 in the 2024 season, while the starting O-line is bringing in a staggering $37,651,852, which works out to around $7.5 million each.

McCoy’s fellow panelists emphasized the pay gap and Purdy’s partnership with Toyota that many assumed made the expensive gift possible. Still, he was adamant that the quarterback should have stopped giving them away.

‘Why do we receive gifts? You’re not blocking as well if I don’t play as well,’ he reiterated. “My stats aren’t that good, we’re not in the playoffs, what are we doing?”

The 49ers have games against the Dolphins, Lions and Cardinals remaining on their regular season schedule.
