Four people are hospitalized after the ex-boyfriend of a high school softball star stabbed her and her mother in a frenzied attack in broad daylight outside a restaurant, before attacking a passerby who dragged him out of her, then cut her own throat.

Madison Schemitz, a 17-year-old Ponte Vedra High School student, was having lunch in the city on Saturday with her mother Jackie Roge and a friend.

The group spotted Schemitz’s ex-boyfriend Spencer Pearson, 18, a recent school graduate and former football player.

Shemitz had recently broken up with him and he had threatened her with violence.

The worried group left the restaurant in a hurry – but as they left they were confronted by Pearson.

He stabbed Schmeitz and his mother in front of Mr. Chubby’s wings on Valley Circle, and their screams alerted 23-year-old Kennedy Armstrong.

armstrong said News4Jax said he saw a man on top of a woman on the sidewalk “pushing her chest”.

He said he couldn’t see if the man had a knife or was just using his fist, but he ran to the scene and knocked the man off the woman.

Pearson then turned on Armstrong, cutting an artery in his arm.

The teenager later slit his throat in a suicide attempt.

All four were taken to hospital.

Schmeitz suffered deep cuts to his spine and required multiple surgeries.

Her mum wrote on her GoFundMe page on Monday: “I am about to have surgery, my muscles have been severed from the bone in my hand.

“Madison has 2 chest tubes and a spinal cord injury, but she’s a fighter, just keep praying for her.”

Armstrong needs surgery to reconnect nerves and an artery and attempt to repair some scarring.

Pearson remains in critical condition: if he survives, he will face multiple crimes, including attempted murder.
