And the Scottish actor has shared how special the process of recreating his real-life love on screen really was.
“First of all, I can’t tell you how perfect it feels to come to work to play this beautiful romance with my wife,” McGregor says in this week’s edition of Stellar.
“It doesn’t get any better than that,” the Trainspotting star, 52, added.
Speaking about the Paramount+ drama, McGregor says that in many ways it mirrors the way he fell in love with his wife.

“From the beginning of the story, she enters his life in the square and drags him away,” he said.
“It’s vast and real, it makes the performance seem even more real because we feel like we’re there.”
The actor plays the main character, Count Alexander Rostov, while Mary, 39, will play his love interest, Anna Urbanova.
A Gentleman in Moscow tells the story of a Russian aristocrat who is saved from death and placed under house arrest as the Bolshevik Revolution unfolds before him.
The couple have been together since 2017 after meeting on the set of TV crime comedy Fargo.

Speaking about working together for the first time, Ewan said: “We didn’t know each other very well on Fargo, but we fit together very well as actors.”
The actor recently revealed that he is scaling back his acting career to spend more time at home with his new wife and son.
Ewan said he is “very much in love” with Mary and their two-year-old son Laurie and does not want to spend long periods of time away from them.
He married Mary in April 2022 in a low-key ceremony near his home in Los Angeles.
McGregor also has four daughters with his ex-wife Eve Mavrakis. They separated in 2017 after 22 years of marriage and their divorce was finalized in August 2020.
