A father who abused his children for years with prolonged beatings and humiliating abuse has been forced to listen to a judge read aloud his sickening catalog of crimes.
The man, who cannot be named, stared straight ahead for more than two hours while his eldest daughter sat about 5 meters away, occasionally turning to look at her lifelong tormentor.
‘MS’ waged a campaign of domestic terror in which he routinely whipped his children with an electric cord, called two of his daughters ‘fats’ and repeatedly hit a young son with a wrench.
On Wednesday afternoon, he walked out of Downing Center District Court in handcuffs after being sentenced to four years in prison.
The middle-aged fixer, who admitted he had a “total inability to be a father”, will serve at least two years behind bars.
His daughter, whom MS had looked at several times on Tuesday during the sentencing, did not stay to see him taken away.
Judge Timothy Gartelmann said MS had abused the trust of his children, some of whom were so young they were extremely vulnerable to his vicious outbursts.
“You did it in a house where they should have been safe and protected,” Judge Gartelmann said.
‘In some cases it seems like the wrong disciplinary approach. In other cases it seems that he did it to maintain control, authority and respect.

North African-born MS pleaded guilty to 26 offences: nine counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, 15 of common assault and two of intimidation.
MS and his converted Islamic wife CS raised their children in a home, where the slightest act of mischief or disobedience was met with extreme violence.
No information that could identify children, including their parents’ names and exact family size, can be published.
The extended family lived in squalor in a series of rental addresses in Sydney, where children, from toddlers to teenagers, were subjected to terrifying experiences.
The father’s iron fist saw him attack with his favorite weapon, a bent electrical cord, whenever his children failed to complete his list of slave chores.
A statement of facts presented to the court and obtained by Daily Mail Australia outlined the conditions the children faced at home.
“MS and CS created a controlling and disciplined home environment for their children who followed strict Muslim religious beliefs,” the statement said.
‘Children were required to wear clothing that covered their entire body. Girls were not allowed to cut their hair unless MS approved.

‘They were not to have short hair, wear trousers and were to be completely covered with clothing from collarbone to knees.
“Boy children were required to wear long pants and were prohibited from wearing shorts.”
The parents schooled the children at home and the two older daughters helped the younger ones with their work.
They attended the mosque to pray and receive religious education, but were not allowed to socialize with friends, visit public places such as shops, or play sports.
The children “had little or no contact with anyone outside their home,” according to the statement of facts, and were faced with a series of daily tasks.
Those tasks included cooking, cleaning, vacuuming, mopping, washing clothes, feeding the animals, and bathing her younger siblings.
“Throughout the victims’ lives, each of them was subjected to physical abuse and mistreatment at the hands of MS and CS,” the statement of facts said.
“These acts were frequent and often occurred in full view of the other victims.”
The first violation recorded by MS occurred after he returned home from the market with mangoes and asked his daughters to cut the fruit before going out to mow the grass.

CS overheard one of the elementary school-aged girls telling her sisters how much she hated men and that she would never have one in her adult life because “all men take advantage of women” and don’t take care of their children.
When MS returned home, CS told him what his daughter had said and he reacted angrily.
MS made the daughter stand against a wall with her back to him and began whipping her back, legs and arms with an electrical cord.
As the girl screamed and begged her father to stop, he said, ‘So you hate all men?’ I’m the only man you know, so you hate me?
“I’m the one who provides you with the house and the clothes and you don’t have even a bit of respect,” he continued. “You will get married and have children.”
The next day, when CS’s parents visited the house, the daughter who had been spanked was wearing a short-sleeved dress and bruises were visible on her upper arms.
MS told him: “I don’t know what you think you’re doing, trying to show your grandparents your whip marks and get me in trouble.”
MS warned a pre-teen daughter not to come downstairs while her father’s friend was staying at the house.

“In the Islamic religion, women are allowed to talk to men, but must cover themselves and wear a headscarf,” the statement of facts says.
‘During the afternoon, (the daughter) went downstairs to tell her brothers to come in from the backyard.
“At that time she was not wearing a scarf because the friend was inside her room.”
MS saw what his daughter had done, told her to turn around and while she begged him ‘please don’t spank me, I won’t do it again’, he spanked her back and buttocks.
CS once overheard another daughter tell her siblings that she was going to be rude to her parents until they kicked her out.
When CS told MS what had happened, he approached the girl with an electric cable and told her: ‘turn around, I’m going to hit you.’ Then he spanked the girl’s back.
A son who was expected to memorize two pages of the Quran every day returned home from the mosque without having learned its lines.
MS took out an electric cable and whipped the boy, saying: ‘You are wasting my money, you are wasting my time, you are wasting my life, you are wasting the teacher’s time.’
When a pre-teen daughter was caught without shoes, MS chased her into the house and hit her in the back of the head with a broom.
When a preschooler wouldn’t eat his vegetables, MS slapped his face, leaving him with a swollen lip and bleeding from the mouth.
Initially, the girls were terrified that their parents would find out about their reports to the police.
An email sent to police said: “Hello, I hope you are well.” I’ve been abused my entire life and I’m fed up. But I don’t want the people who did that to me to go to jail. Despite what they have done to me I will never be the same’
Four years later, while MS was whipping the same son with an electric cord, the boy begged him to let him go to the bathroom.
According to the report of the facts, MS told the child ‘that he could stay there to pee his pants and that I would take photos of him to show him when he was an adult.’
Another son who broke the glass of a bedroom door was punished with MS hitting his hands with a wrench. MS then spanked one of the boy’s older brothers.
During a backyard barbecue, a son of about one year old threw a metal spoon at his grandmother. MS responded by slapping the boy for approximately 10 minutes while he refused to apologize.
“(The boy’s) mouth was bleeding and as the MS continued to hit him, the blood went everywhere,” the statement of facts said.
‘CS’s two grandparents were watching. They said (to the boy): ‘Just say sorry, darling.’
No reason was offered in the statement of facts why another child was forced to face a wall to be spanked all over his body.
On that occasion MS said: ‘If you don’t move, I won’t hit you as much.’ If you move, I’ll hit you more.’

A daughter who left a dustpan full of rubbish she had swept in her bedroom was whipped with an electric cable when MS returned from the mosque.
MS called the same girl “fat” and bit her on the arm one night during dinner.
Another day, when MS and CS came home and discovered that four of their young daughters had not cleaned their rooms, they took turns spanking them all.
The children’s torment only ended after two of the older sisters secretly contacted the police anonymously asking for help, according to the account of the events.
Since his arrest in September 2022, MS had not been allowed any contact with his children, who were removed from the family home and are protected by apprehended violence orders.
When MS was released on bail in November 2022, after 57 days of pre-trial detention, he was prevented from seeing his wife and his marriage broke down.
Judge Gartelmann said MS had spent the last two years under house arrest and had saved his children from having to testify by admitting his crimes.
“He accepted responsibility for his actions and recognized their consequences,” Judge Gartelmann concluded.
CS pleaded guilty to eight counts of common assault, two of assault occasioning bodily harm and three of concealing an indictable offence. In February she was sentenced to a seven-month intensive correction order.
MS will be eligible for parole on October 21, 2026.
