Everything is coming to Netflix in October 2019

As streaming wars increase, the way new shows and movies are made is changing rapidly. All of a sudden everything with a dedicated fandom and a trusted title is uniquely valuable, and the chorus "Six seasons and a movie!" Community fans stumping for more of their favorite show, seems to apply for more and more features. Veronica Mars got his own (partly financed by fans) film, HBO finally made the firewood film, and this month Netflix will continue with the Bad story where the AMC TV series stopped, with Aaron Paul returning as meth dealer Jesse Pinkman in the original movie El Camino.

In front of Bad fans, at least, that's probably the highlight of Netflix's offers in October. For non-fans (from the "I have to have someone to sympathize with in a show, and all these people are horrible" brigade to the "I hear it's great, I just didn't get it") are numerous other options this month. Fans of superheroes will be interested in this Educate Dion, a science fiction series about a single mother whose young son develops mysterious powers. Have fans of apocalyptic comedy dawn of the day, a cheerful teenage series about navigating through the end of the world. The ordinary animated series Big mouth returns with another season about sex and puberty, this time with WestworldIs Thandie Newton. Cardi B, Chance the Rapper and Tip T.I. Harris starts the reality competition Rhythm + current. And Paul Rudd confronts a better version of himself in the science fiction comedy drama Living with yourself.

On the film side, the new Steven Soderbergh film The laundry service follows his previous Netflix movie, High flying bird, circling around unbalanced and unfair financial systems, this time looking at a form of insurance fraud that benefits the rich and bankrupt policyholders who thought they were covered. In the tall grass adapts a short story written by Stephen King and his son, horror writer Joe Hill, about a seemingly normal field where terrible things happen to seemingly ordinary people. Dolemite is my name stars Eddie Murphy in a lively biopic about homemade pioneering comedian and film star Rudy Ray Moore.

And finally, as more US media companies are preparing their own streaming services and the competition for licensed content is increasing, Netflix is investing heavily in licensing or developing content around the world. This month's streaming offer is a source of wealth for fans of international culture. The distribution includes the Chinese science fiction series Nowhere man, season 2 of the Italian teenage drama Baby, the French rom-com series The Hook Up Plan, the Brazilian crime drama Brotherhood, the Indian comedy upstart, and more. It has never been so easy to see what entertainment looks like worldwide.
