In response to backlash over the sauce change, a McDonald’s spokesperson said The mirror: ‘We are pleased to confirm the long-awaited arrival of the McRib on October 16, returning to the UK for the first time since December 2014.

“The McRib is a limited edition product and will be available while supplies last.”

They added: ‘Over the years the taste of the product has remained the same, however we have evolved the way the sauce is dispensed.

“We’ve managed to eliminate complexity and simplify procedures for our crew members while still offering the iconic McRib sauce, which our fans love.”
