Everton ‘join Arsenal’ in chase for 20-year-old PSV star Donyell Malen with Marcel Brands pushing for move
- Donyell Malen left Arsenal and joined PSV for just £500,000 back in 2017
- Gunners could resign him but it is likely to take a bid in region of £50million
- Everton are also interested and could be helped by director Marcel Brands
Everton have joined Arsenal in the chase for 20-year-old PSV star Donyell Malen.
The Gunners are interested in resigning their former youngster but will have to cough up in the region of £50million having sold him for £500,000 in 2017.
Now the Toffees have entered the race having been impressed with Malen’s impressive scoring output this season.
Donyell Malen is a transfer target for both former side Arsenal and also Everton
He’s netted 11 times in 14 games after scoring ten last season and is on the radar of Dutch compatriot and Everton sporting director Marcel Brands.
Brands is known to favour young talent and Malen fits the bill perfectly. CalcioMercato report that the Dutchman is pushing for the transfer.
Some claimed that the reason Arsenal let Malen leave was because his conditioning was poor and he was overweight.
But the player has since come out and refuted those claims, arguing that he left for more game time for the good of his career.
The Dutch striker has been on fine form and has scored 11 goals in his last 14 matches
He said: ‘That I was sent away from Arsenal is certainly not true. I still had a contract for a year and Arsenal even wanted to extend that.
‘I don’t play football for the money. I never did that. Otherwise I would not have left England.
‘There are stories that I was not fit when I came to Arsenal.
‘But I have never been too fat, that really is a nonsense story.’
Everton director of football Marcel Brands is reportedly interested in Malen
