Everton players are still reeling from the sudden departure of iconic coach Carlo Ancelotti this week, and star duo James Rodriguez and Richarlison are now reportedly considering their future at the club.
Earlier in the week, Ancelotti was contacted by Real Madrid and left Merseyside within 48 hours of making it clear that he wanted to return to the Spanish capital.
Everton’s players have been surprised and dismayed as a result, after they were convinced that Ancelotti was committed to the club for the long term.
No sooner was the news of Real’s interest known, the Italian was already posing with the club shirt next to President Florentino Perez and looking forward to the new campaign.

Now a number of stars are contemplating their future, leaving Richarlison and James “extremely disillusioned,” according to the Athletic.
Many players expressed their feelings with a small gesture of unfollowing the Italian boss on social media.
Ancelotti is one of the few executives in the world to have a regular online presence, but in the hours following his stunning departure, only James and Richarlison continued to monitor his accounts online.
The news was hardly known about Real Madrid’s interest, Ancelotti was already in the capital
James enjoyed a superb start to his life in the Premier League under Ancelotti, despite the latter part of his season being cut short due to mounting concerns over injury.
It was Ancelotti who personally convinced the Colombian to sign for the Merseyside club, having previously worked with him at both Real and Bayern Munich.
Everton had been preparing for a big summer under Ancelotti, with owner Farhad Moshiri previously outlining a long-term project under the Italian.
The intention was for Ancelotti to build a new era at Everton and be given the time, patience and money to do so. He was expected to be the manager who would lead the club to their new elite stadium, which is about to begin construction on the Bramley-Moore Dock site in Liverpool.
Now the Toffees are frantically looking for a new manager, while the original plan was to spend the summer identifying the players Ancelotti needed to improve to a disappointing 10th place.
