The clip below shows Maya Angelou talking about going through life, one experience at a time, while waiting for the inevitable: death.
“I didn’t come here to stay,” Angelou said in the interview, “I didn’t come to this earth to stay.”
Lily comments on the clips.
“Thank you @lost_theothers for digging up this footage (from almost twenty years ago) of me talking about my dreams under (what appears to be) a full moon,” the actor commented.
“And thanks to @femalepoetssociety for digging up this (much older) footage of the amazing #mayaangelou that perfectly articulates how I feel about life.”

Lilly previously revealed that she had a lot of input into the film’s script.
She said: ‘I have a lot of opinions and I would love to share them and I would love to give you my opinion on all of this.
‘And do it with confidence and do it clearly, instead of, even before I speak, already… sweeping my own ideas under the rug, which is an old habit I have. Like, “Yeah, this probably isn’t a very good idea, but…” or “You don’t have to use this, I’m just going to tell you what it is.”
