Coots allegedly met the woman, who has not been identified, sometime a year ago, when he was her primary care provider during a time when she says she was vulnerable.

Charging documents claim he then manipulated ways to continue seeing the patient, until he obtained her phone number and asked her for an appointment.

They then began a romantic relationship and she became pregnant after about a year of seeing each other. Coots is married with five children, but the patient claimed he told her he was going to divorce her.

When confronted with the news that she was pregnant, prosecutors say Coots pretended to be supportive and at one point allegedly asked her “what kind of stroller they should get.”

‘He was extremely understanding and excited about our future. “I am shocked and disturbed by the planning and deception that went into his attack on me and our fetus,” the woman wrote in a statement to the court.

While the woman planned to keep the baby, he allegedly conspired to force a miscarriage by slipping abortion pills into her vagina while they had sex.

Coots is accused of trying to convince the woman not to seek medical treatment, but she did so that day and was administered a rape kit.

Hospital staff later found more medication inside her, and she told investigators she suffered abnormal bleeding and stomach pain for several days.

A pregnancy test later came back negative, and doctors reportedly told her the bleeding was a possible miscarriage.

Court documents also allege a strange encounter the day before the incident, when Coots made her coffee but made numerous comments about the fact that she was not drinking it.

Then he made a big deal of it when she spilled the coffee. After the alleged pill-forcing incident, she asked him if she had added a spike to the coffee, to which Coots allegedly simply laughed and asked her if she tasted funny.

Coots allegedly sent her $2,000 after the incident, which she returned. On January 31, four days later, she is accused of visiting his house and asking him how much money it would cost her not to report him to the police.

In response, she said she wanted to hold him accountable for his actions.

A day later, Melissa Coots, who has not been arrested, allegedly texted the woman and told her she wanted to talk and asked for her hospital report.

Melissa then allegedly asked how much it would cost her not to go to the police and told her she had been to her house several times before, causing the woman to fear because she didn’t know Coots’ wife knew where he lived.

This led her to take her 7-year-old daughter to stay temporarily in a hotel.

Detectives reportedly found a cut key and a March 10 receipt for a lock in the woman’s home, prosecutors claimed.
