The tragic death of Evan Ellingson, aged 35, is being investigated as a potential overdose after drug paraphernalia was found at the scene of his death at a facility of sober living.
The My Sister’s Keeper star was found dead in the bedroom of her sober living home in Fontana, Southern California, in San Bernardino County on Sunday.
Police sources confirmed TMZ drug paraphernalia was found – Evan’s father previously said his son had struggled with drugs, but was getting better in recent years and in recovery.
Sources added that the expected results of Evan’s toxicology report will determine how the investigation proceeds.
If drugs are found to have caused his death, authorities could investigate whether the actor acquired them, leading to a criminal investigation.

There appears to be no foul play, according to the coroner’s office, and the cause of death has not yet been shared.
Evan’s older brother, Austin Ellingson, died of a drug overdose in 2008, according to IMDB.
Evan is survived by his daughter, Brooklynn, whom he welcomed that same year.
The actor, born in La Verne in Southern California, appeared to have taken a long break from his work in Hollywood before his death.
Evan hasn’t appeared on screen in over a decade.
His last role was as Kyle Harmon in a 2010 episode of CSI: Miami. He had appeared in a total of 18 episodes of the hit macabre detective series.
His first acting role was in the 2001 TV movie Living In Fear in which he played “Young Chuck” at the age of 12.
He next appeared as a young Luke Spencer in a 2001 episode of the soap opera General Hospital.
Then came a small role as Alden Boy in The Gristle in 2001.
From 2001 to 2002, he starred in 10 episodes of the television series Titus with Christopher Titus and Stacy Keach.

He was later seen on Mad TV as Church Camp Boy and on Time Changer as Roger.

It was the return to television with Complete Savages; Evan starred in 19 episodes from 2004 to 2005.
In 2005, he played David Cook in an episode of Bones with David Boreanaz and Emily Deschanel.
In the 2006 film The Bondage, he played Mark Edwards opposite Michael Angarano and he also starred as “Kid Marine” in Clint Eastwood’s epic war film Letters From Iwo Jima.

Evan landed another TV series the following year: in 2007, he played Josh Bauer, the nephew of Kiefer Sutherland’s counterterrorism agent Jack Bauer, in the thriller 24.
He featured in a total of 10 episodes of the acclaimed series which revolved around Jack dealing with assassination attempts, nuclear attacks, bioterrorism, torture, traitors and sleeper cells.
After that, Ellingson worked on Walk The Talk and State of Mind.
In 2009, he got his major film role in My Sister’s Keeper with Diaz.
In CSI: Miami, he played the son of David Caruso and Julia Winston’s Lieutenant Horatio Caine.
In July 2009, he spoke to Philstar Global about starting to work in show business at a young age.
He said: “I never had the same childhood experience with my friends.
“I’ve never had this much time with them. However, my childhood was cool. I was busy doing the things I love. I have had no regrets because I discovered my passion for theater very early on.
He was discovered at a skate park and asked to not only skate for the Vans PeeWee team, but also to direct a commercial for the Vans company, according to IMDB.
