Eva Mendes remembers the movie where she met her longtime partner Ryan Gosling over a decade ago – The Place Beyond the Pines.
The 49-year-old actress began dating 42-year-old Gosling in September 2011, shortly after filming on The Place Beyond the Pines wrapped.
They’ve been together ever since, sharing eight-year-old daughter Esmerelda and six-year-old daughter Amada.
Mendez — who shared some sun-soaked snaps from vacation earlier this week — took to Instagram on Tuesday, sharing a number of behind-the-scenes snaps from the movie.
This post comes a few days after the movie celebrated its 10th anniversary, which was released in theaters in a limited release on March 29, 2013, which her friend Sandra Conditto reminded her of.

Mendes started “Luke & Romina” with two black heart emojis referring to her and Gosling’s characters in the movie.
Mi socia (colleague) @scondita just sent me this to tell me that it’s been 10 years since this movie came out. Mendes said it feels like a long time ago.

The film followed Luke, a stunt motorcycle racer who resorts to robbing banks to support his girlfriend Romina and their newborn baby.
The Place Beyond the Pines also stars Bradley Cooper, Mahershala Ali, Ben Mendelsohn, Rose Byrne, Bruce Greenwood, Ray Liotta, and Dean DeHaan.
The film wasn’t a huge success at the box office, though it grossed $47 million worldwide from a budget of $15 million.
It also eventually became the second-to-last film Mendes would star in, to date, only appearing in Gosling’s directorial debut, Lost River, with Christina Hendricks and Saoirse Ronan, which was released in 2014.
While she did return to acting briefly, voicing a yoga instructor on the children’s animated series Bluey in 2021, Mendes has revealed in the past that she moved away to take care of her children.

However, she also added on a November podcast that she also declined because she was offered, “****y roles.”
When asked if she would ever return to acting, Mendes said on the Australian podcast Fizzy and Weba“Yes, well, for a big role.”
“I was just, you know… I took time off to be with the kids, because they were so young. Now they’re six and our oldest just turned eight.”
But it’s also because, you know, can I say a bad word? It was some pretty attractive roles that were offered to me and I was tired of taking them,” she explained.
“I’m so sick of it, you know what, it’s not worth it.” You know, if I’m going away for a few months and you know, it better be a very good thing.’
Mendes was also asked if there was a particular moment in the script – or even the page – that reinforced her decision to pass on a project.
Sometimes there is a page. If the character is introduced, you know what I mean? She said.
She added, “Sometimes it’s a page, but I usually try to give it a full blow, but sometimes halfway through, you’re just like, I’ll never do that.”
She also revealed her talk of having “retired” from acting in a recent Instagram caption from October.
I never stopped acting. “I wanted to be home with my kids and luckily my other business ventures allowed me to do that more than acting,” Mendes said.
