Refunds: Eurostar services in the medium term were affected by the French railway strikes

Eurostar is facing a backlash as passengers affected by mid-term strikes fight for refunds.

Commuters had their journeys disrupted over the weekend after a strike by French train staff led to the cancellation of cross-Channel services.

Among those affected were families returning from mid-term holidays in France and beyond and who were forced to book expensive flights home or stay an extra night. Several passengers were then told they were not entitled to refunds even though their trains had been cancelled. Disgruntled travelers took to social media to express their frustrations, with one post on X calling the cancellations a “complete disaster.”

A Eurostar spokesperson told the Mail that customers can get a full refund, but said some were initially prevented from accessing a payment because they tried to do so too soon.
