Chelsea star Mateo Kovacic has given the Croatian side ‘insights’ about his England team-mates as they bid to beat England in the Euro 2020 opener.
The Three Lions face a tough test to kick off their tournament at Wembley on Sunday in the form of second place at the 2018 World Cup, and Croatian players have compared the notes to ensure a miserable start for England, it said. Lille defender Domagoj Bradaric.
He said part of that strategy was listening to inside information from their star midfielder Kovacic, who knows three players – Ben Chilwell, Reece James and Mason Mount – who have played very well with them at Stamford Bridge.

Bradaric said Kovacic and Dejan Lovren, who played seven years in the Premier League with Southampton and Liverpool, had both offered tips on what Croatia can expect from England, their tactics and ‘mentality’, believing their advice will help the squad ‘definitely ‘ will help .
“We’re all talking to each other,” Bradaric said, as reported by the sun.
“They give us their tips and their insights on what they know and think about the English approach, the English game and their mentality because they spent time there.
“It will certainly help us. We are talking to them and they can help a lot and contribute a lot.’

Kovacic made 21 Premier League starts for Chelsea last season but was on the bench for the Champions League final – which came when the Blues defeated City 1-0 in Porto. His team-mate Mount secured Kai Havertz’s winner, while fullbacks James and Chilwell both played excellent games and all three will pose major threats to Croatia.
Croatia, which are in Group D with England along with Scotland and the Czech Republic, have been working hard on a plan to stop Gareth Southgate’s men, added Bradaric, who scored against England at the Under-21 European Championship in March.
“We’re working and we have a plan that we’re going to try to implement. We’ve been working on it this week, defensively and offensively, we’ve tried everything and we’ll see what the team is capable of.

‘I hope [to start] and I am working towards this goal. It’s up to the head coach, but I’m 100 percent ready.’
Bradaric will enter the tournament at a high level, having just helped Lille win Ligue 1, the stunning PSG, with the left-back 36 times. That winning mentality will be key for Croatia – boasting Champions League winner Kovacic, as well as former Ballon d’Or winner Luka Modric.
They also have right-back Sime Vrsaljko, whose Atlético Madrid side won LaLiga, and Inter Milan star Marcelo Brozovic fresh off their Serie A title win.
