Former Italian midfielder Claudio Marchisio taunted English fans on social media by asking how he can sign a petition to replay the Euro 2020 final – as his country will win it ‘another 1,000 times’.
England were painfully beaten on penalties after a 1-1 draw against Italy at Wembley Stadium after 120 minutes of play.
Marchisio was able to celebrate after the shootout, but many England fans were outraged and a petition to replay the match quickly garnered more than 146,000 signatures.

Marchisio asked where to sign the petition as Italy ‘will win it a thousand more times’
“Where can I sign the petition to replay the Euro 2020 final so Italy can win it another 1000 times,” Marchisio said on Twitter.
England fans felt that a number of decisions went against them that could have changed the course of the final.
Marchisio’s country has been accused of playing ‘dirty’ after captain Giorgio Chiellini tugged on Bukayo Saka’s collar and dropped him to the ground in the final stage.
While some fans quickly took to social media to claim he deserved a red card for the move, he eventually got away with it with a yellow card.

A petition, on change.org, lashed out at what they said were “absolutely biased” referees.
“The match on 11/07/2021 was not fair at all,” the petition began.
‘After Italy only got a yellow card for dragging English players as if they were slaves.
‘All that pushing, pulling and kicking and could Italy win? Definitely biased.
Italy should have been shown a red card for their game and the rematch should have taken place with an impartial referee. This was not fair at all.’
Marchisio may mock the petition that football ended in October 2019.
The former Juventus midfielder has scored five goals in 55 appearances for the national team.
