ESPN has parted ways with another top NBA talent, as on-air writer and analyst Zach Lowe has reportedly been fired.
Lowe joined the company in 2012 as a writer for the ESPN-owned Grantland site (now defunct), before taking his talents to ESPN.com and television with NBA Today and NBA Countdown.
The news was first reported by The athletic.
Lowe was reportedly earning more than $1 million a year, which was apparently the main factor in the company’s decision to fire him.
Lowe’s departure follows the retirement of ESPN NBA expert Adrian Wojnarowksi and the firings of Robert Griffin III and Sam Ponder.
Zach Lowe has reportedly been fired from ESPN as a cost-cutting measure by the network.
Like those moves, the decision to fire Lowe was part of the company’s fiscal year planning, The Athletic said.
He declined to comment to the outlet.
