Tarkov as a snack between meals? The new standalone variant Arena would like to be something like that.

Escape from Tarkov developer Battlestate has revealed a handful of new bits of information about the standalone spinoff of their hit game that was announced last summer on Twitter and via a teaser trailer. Behind the title arena hides a 5vs5 deathmatch variant for a quick lap in between.

Scattered over several tweets, you can catch glimpses of the locations. In the link below teaser trailer you can also see the selection screen for the previously known arenas. Therefore we can now also list the names of the first five maps:

  • airpit
  • Sawmill
  • equator
  • Bay-5
  • bowl

For whom is arena Interesting? Escape from Tarkov has a reputation in the gaming community as a title that offers little to newcomers and is all the more harsh on them. In addition, the potential for frustration in the matches of the PvPvE shooter is great, since valuable equipment can be lost in each run.

On top of that, the games last relatively long, or the duration of a round is difficult to estimate in advance. arena should be more predictable here and more suitable for the small shooter break in between, so to speak a Tarkov snack.

You can see impressions of the gameplay as well as other views of the map and class selection screen in the new teaser trailer:

Classes and Equipment in Arena

The classes are divided as follows:

  • Assault
  • CQB
  • scout
  • Marksman

Each class also comes along a full set of equipments therefore. In contrast to the standard version of Tarkov, you do not bring any equipment you have bought or found with you to the battlefield. You simply choose the alter ego that most appeals to you and jump into an arena match.

However, the Tarkov-typical gameplay is not completely thrown overboard: elements such as inventory management or modifying your weapons are retained.

owner of the Escape from Tarkov: Edge of Darkness Limited Edition Incidentally, you’ll get access to Arena at no additional cost as soon as it’s released. Everyone else has to pay again. It is unclear when the new standalone version of the shooter will appear. Battlestate has not yet made any statements on this.

What do you think? Do you like the new approach of Escape from Tarkov Arena? Or does this faster variant of the rather slow game leave you cold? And do you like the first impressions of the cards? Feel free to share your point of view in the comments!
