Erykah Badu showed off her wild style once again during the GQ Global Creativity Awards 2024.
The Grammy winner, 53, who professed her crush on actor John Boyega, turned heads in a unique ensemble during the red carpet event held in New York City on Thursday.
Wearing a hand-painted plaid coat, a gigantic teddy hat and a handbag the size of a baby stroller, the Bag Lady hitmaker was the talk of the town.
He added blue leather work gloves to the mix as he led a cavalcade of stars at the gala, including honorees Hunter Schafer, Lewis Hamilton, Danny McBride, Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross.
The revelation comes after Beyoncé’s publicist dismissed Erykah’s recent claims that the superstar “copied her look” for the Cowboy Carter album.

Following Badu’s accusation that the R&B diva, 42, ripped out her signature beaded bangs, Yvette Noel-Schure, who has worked with Queen Bey since 1997, shared photographic evidence that her client had been sporting similar looks since the childhood.
Her video montage included footage, images, and even Polaroid photos of the Halo Hitmaker’s unique, braided hairstyles over the years on her path to becoming one of the best-selling music artists of all time.
‘She kills. She kills. Now. So. Always,” Schure wrote in his post.
A few days earlier, Erykah posted Beyoncé’s limited-edition vinyl cover for her eighth studio album Act II: Cowboy Carter, with the caption: ‘Hmmm.’
Erykah too accused Beyonce to rip off his style with his extravagant Renaissance World Tour outfits from last year.
Badu, known for breaking style boundaries, took to Instagram to criticize Beyonce, 41, for donning an oversized chrome hat similar to the one Badu wore on stage.
Sharing Beyoncé’s post, which showed the superstar tilting her head in the hat, paired with camouflage boots and a bright IV sports shirt, Badu wrote: “Hmmm.”
She then shared a post of herself wearing a nearly identical hat and wrote, “Guess I’m everyone’s stylist.”

Badu first earned style accolades by bursting onto the music scene in the late ’90s for her chameleon-like adaptations of traditional African clothing.
This comes after Badu was performing in Atlanta when she professed her crush on Star Wars actor John Boyega.
The singer was taking a break between songs during the performance when she began talking about her love for the 31-year-old London actor, who is in the running to play chef Levi Roots in a biopic.
“If anyone ever sees John Boyega, tell that black I said hello,” Badu told the crowd, adding, “There’s a lot of people in the audience, so I wanted to say that because there’s enough of you.” “All for one of you to get the message to the man, right?” he joked.
He went on to add that the actor was “Okay,” before asking someone in the audience how old he is.
‘Are you under 30 years old? Hell yeah, that’s what I’m talking about. The nuts are still hard, you know what I’m saying? That’s what I’m looking for,” she added.
She then broke into her 1977 hit song, Tyrone, when Boyega came out on stage to surprise her.
“It’s good to see you,” Boyega told the singer, who exclaimed, “It’s John Boyega!” after giving the actor a hug on stage.

‘Be sure to roll one up for me. Thank you,” he said, as Boyega left the stage.
Badu said, “I’m at work, I have to work,” she told the actor, as her backup singers continued the song, adding, “Call him,” perhaps as a message to the singer herself.
He later told Boyega, “I’ll be back on the bus later, after the show, of course.” I have to finish this and then we’ll get back on the bus, okay?
The actor nodded and kissed her on the cheek while she told him: ‘They’ll give you the key, you can roll one for me,’ she said, before going crazy in front of the audience.
