According to the report, Manchester City will make Haaland the highest-paid player in the Premier League through his base salary, with teammate Kevin De Bruyne currently holding the title.
De Bruyne is reportedly on £425,000-a-week wages at Man City, while Haaland currently earns a basic salary of £375,000-a-week.
However, Mail Sport understands that while Haaland receives a basic salary that is in line with other higher-earning players at the Etihad Stadium, a series of substantial and almost guaranteed bonuses see his weekly wages rise beyond the £850,000 mark.
Marca claim that Haaland’s new deal is expected to contain a release clause, which should be achievable for Spanish giants Real Madrid in the future.
The reigning Champions League holders remain admirers of Haaland, but the Norwegian is not currently seen as a priority after adding Kylian Mbappe to an already stellar attacking force this summer.
Haaland, his father Alf-Inge and agent Rafael Pimienta are reported to be considering a release clause as a way to ensure the striker retains control over his future and career.
Pimenta said last year that Haaland was “master of his destiny” but would ensure he would always do the right thing for his club.
