- The Bavarian side CEO believes they already have the best striker in the world
- Haaland is in demand this summer after a super form at Borussia Dortmund
Erling Haaland will not be going to Bayern Munich this summer as the Bundesliga champions already have the best striker in the world with Robert Lewandowski, CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said.
Haaland, 20, is European football’s most in-demand striker after his prolific performance with Borussia Dortmund in German football and the Champions League.
But while the road from Dortmund to Bayern is one that many of Haaland’s predecessors have traveled, such as Lewandowski in 2014, Rummenigge insists the Norwegian will not go east while the Polish star is at the club.
Erling Haaland will not be joining Bayern Munich this summer, CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge confirmed
Rummenigge said Robert Lewandowski remains at the top of his game and leads the Bayern line
“I don’t know where the rumors are coming from,” Rummenigge said German outlet Bild
‘I can only say one thing: we have the world’s best footballer in this position. Robert Lewandowski has a contract until 2023. ‘
Haaland is 12 years younger than the Polish international, but despite setbacks, Rummenigge was adamant that Lewandowski is ‘at the peak’ of his strength.
“As I said, world footballer Robert Lewandowski is well on his way to beating Gerd Muller’s benchmark of 40 goals in a Bundesliga season,” he added.
“He’s at the peak of his career.”

Haaland has a hugely impressive 25 goals and one assist in 25 Bundesliga games this season, and has 10 goals out of six in the Champions League.
By contrast, Lewandowski has 35 goals in 25 Bundesliga games and six assists.
The news of Bayern’s lack of interest in the chase of Haaland is a welcome boost to his many suitors – including Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea.
Sportsmail understands that City has made him their primary target this summer with the need for a striker raised following the news of Sergio Agüero’s departure.
The Norwegian international, whose father Alfie played as a City player for three years, will play against his suitors in the quarter finals of the Champions League at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday.

Guardiola’s troubled relationship with Haaland’s agent Mino Raiola would not affect City’s pursuit. Raiola suggested on Tuesday that he “closed the book” over their public disagreements.
Before joining Dortmund in January 2020, Haaland and agent Raiola declined the opportunity to reunite the player with former Molde boss Ole Gunner Solskjaer at Old Trafford.
United will return for Haaland this summer, but this time faces a much tougher fight.
Haaland has a £ 90 million buyout clause, but it can only be triggered if the fee is paid all at once.
