Erik ten Hag believes Antony is regaining his confidence as a Man United player and echoes the star striker he was at Ajax.
The Brazilian came off the bench, replacing Rasmus Hojlund in the 71st minute, and scored a late equalizer to send their FA Cup match against Liverpool into extra time.
Amad Diallo scored in the 121st minute to secure a 4-3 AET victory over Jurgen Klopp’s Reds, but that only happened after Antony’s low shot in the 87th minute to level the match at 2- 2.
It’s been an eventful season for the 24-year-old, but Ten Hag reckoned the goal would be an important moment in Antony’s Manchester United career.
Ten Hag told beIN Sports: “It’s very important to him. He struggled so much. Firstly, he wasn’t himself, he’s to blame for that.

“And then he lost confidence, and now he has to fight back. We see in the last couple of weeks he’s coming back.
“I see in training, I see the Antony I used to work with at Ajax, and I also used to work here in the first weeks.
“He has to fight back, and I’m sure he will, because you saw that goal.
“But not only in goal. When he plays left-back, he defends very well. In some systems he can play on that side.
“He’s not a defensive player, don’t get me wrong, because we’ve seen he can score goals.”
Ten Hag admitted that Antony had lost confidence so far during his turbulent campaign.
The manager said he saw Antony who he worked with at Ajax and his debut in Manchester.
After the international break, Manchester United will play back-to-back matches in London against Brentford and Chelsea before another clash with Liverpool on April 7.
In the FA Cup semi-finals later this month, Man United will face Championship side Coventry City after the draw was made in the moments following their late victory on Sunday.
