Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan appeared for the first time after his illness in person, Saturday, in Istanbul, according to pictures broadcast by television stations.

Erdogan, 69, who was infected with an intestinal virus according to his surroundings, spoke for four days via video link, raising questions about his health two weeks before the presidential elections on May 14.

Erdogan began a visit to the Technofest Airshow at the former Ataturk Airport in Istanbul, an exhibition that Turkey presents as the “largest in the world” and which allows the Turkish military industry to display its drones and planes.

According to the official programme, Erdogan is supposed to participate later on Saturday in an election meeting in Izmir in western Turkey.

He is also expected to visit the capital, Ankara, on Sunday, exactly two weeks before the first round of voting, to resume his election campaign after it was cut short for four days this week due to health problems.
