Enormous blaze engulfs inner-city timber boarding house as emergency crews rush to evacuate residents

Firefighters are trying to extinguish a huge fire that engulfed a timber boarding house in Brisbane city center on Tuesday afternoon (pictured).

A major fire destroyed a wooden boarding house and left one occupant in hospital.

Emergency services were called to the house on Walton St in Dutton Park, just south of Brisbane’s CBD, at 2.50pm on Tuesday and found it ablaze.

Footage from the shocking scene shows a huge plume of smoke rising into the sky as paramedics are seen treating a woman with an oxygen mask.

Queensland Police confirmed the woman was taken to hospital due to smoke inhalation.

All remaining occupants have been accounted for.

Firefighters are attempting to extinguish a large fire that engulfed a timber boarding house in Brisbane city center on Tuesday afternoon (pictured).

The property was severely damaged by the fire, which had not yet been declared safe by emergency services at 3.45pm.

Firefighters have since managed to extinguish the fire that police declared a crime scene.

“Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the fire,” police said in a statement.
