Georgia Stanway said she learned a vital lesson during this camp in England: always carry your soccer cleats in your carry-on luggage.
Stanway flew from Germany to the Lionesses camp in Marbella, where she plays for Bayern Munich, but unfortunately her suitcase did not arrive with her.
Stanway, who had to borrow a pair of boots for his first two days of training, told the story during his pre-match press conference with Sarina Wiegman, who was also hearing the story for the first time, leading to a hilarious exchange between the pair.
Stanway: Right now I’m spending all my time trying to find my suitcase because it didn’t show up when I landed here on Monday. At the moment I’m just trying to locate where it is.
Wiegman: Don’t have your football stuff?

Stanway: You don’t know that story!
Wiegman: If you need some things from me, that’s fine…
Stanway: We had a little drama because he stayed in Germany and I had nothing. But an under-23 player, Freya (Gregory), was able to wear her boots for the first two days.
Wiegman: Gasps
Stanway: And then we sent Maria to the store last night. But I hope my suitcase appears in the next few days. The biggest lesson I learned was to put my boots in my carry-on.
Wiegman: I thought you would have learned it a long time ago on the road!

Meanwhile, Wiegman has promised to rotate his squad for England’s friendlies against Austria and Italy and the manager is expected to field two different starting XIs for each match.
The Lionesses are preparing for the Euro 2025 qualifiers, which begin in April, but Wiegman has rarely had the chance to experiment due to the constant cycle of tournament football.
If Wiegman fields a completely different starting lineup in the second game, against Italy, it would be the first time he has done so during his tenure.
