The English international Sam Burgess was identified as the player in the middle of a sexting scandal after it emerged that his Facebook account was used to request a naked video chat with a 23-year-old woman in May.
But despite the controversy, the rugby league star gave an impressive performance on the field Saturday night.
Burgess helped his South Sydney Rabbitohs team to a spectacular 13-12 victory in the semifinals against the St George Illawarra Dragons at the ANZ Stadium in Sydney, despite the boos from the crowd.

He made 29 tackles to help his team win the game, with the winning hat-ricks scored by midfielder Adam Reynolds in the last 10 minutes of the game.
"Today we won a game, but we won nothing, there is still one game ahead next week, so do not burn too much emotional energy," Burgess said after the game.
"We managed a little pressure, Cameron Murray was great on the back end and he made a great play and Adam Reynolds was great under pressure.
"We were in the washing machine doing a lot of work, but I thought we would deepen to be able to improve in many areas, which is a good thing."
The coach of the losing Dragons team, Paul McGregor, offered his congratulations to the Rabbitohs after the game.
"It hurts, but congratulations to @SSFCRABBITOHS, we had it, we lost it, we had it, we lost it," he said.

Burgess was identified on Saturday as the player in the middle of the Rabbitoh sexting scandal.
The drawings of the chat show a man who exposes himself and a man with his pants down.
It has not been confirmed if Burgess was the man in the footage, but the account of the social networks was verified in his name.
Just a few hours after the scandal came to light, his pregnant wife and 26-week-old mother, Phoebe Burgess, retired from an appearance at Randwick Racecourse, which she was expected to attend as an ambassador for Colgate.
