England fans are convinced Mason Mount will be in the England squad for Euro 2024 after he was pictured wearing the team’s new kit.
The midfielder has not played for his country in over a year, his last cap coming in the 2022 World Cup quarter-final loss to France, struggling with form and injuries since the competition.
He was left out of the squad during the last international break, the last before manager Gareth Southgate names his provisional squad for the summer tournament, and recently returned from a long injury layoff.
Mount looked to have scored the winning goal for Manchester United against Brentford at the weekend, going into extra time to announce his return to action with a bang, but Kristoffer Ajer equalized moments later.
And fans believe he has a chance of making the summer squad after he was spotted at the recent kit launch, wearing the new shirt despite not currently being part of the team.

“I didn’t realize until now but Mason Mount was at the England kit launch (with a healthy hug for fellow United No.7 Ella Toone),” one fan posted on X, formerly Twitter. “I haven’t seen him in the planned Euro squad, but if he has a good end to the season I wouldn’t be surprised… he’s top class and a Southgate favourite!”
Another posted: “Southgate watched Gallagher for a week and decided it was time to ride,” while a third added: “Goes to hell Southgate loves him.”
Mount was pictured in England’s new purple kit on TikTok, despite making just 14 club appearances this season.
He was a vital part of Southgate’s plans before his injury, making a total of 36 international appearances for his country since his debut in 2019, all under Southgate.
There are still concerns over a midfield place in the England squad, with Declan Rice and Jude Bellingham’s places secured, but the third spot is up for debate.
The likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Kobbie Mainoo and Gallagher have filled in in recent games, the occupant is far from decided and Mount could make a late run for selection.
Mount, who has played 36 times for England, all under Southgate, last played for England at the 2022 World Cup.
He has had a difficult season since his £60million move to Manchester United but has now regained his fitness.
Things have not gone to plan for the 25-year-old since his £60million move to Old Trafford in the summer, but now that he is fit he hopes to be able to play the rest of the season.
United sit sixth in the Premier League table after their draw with Brentford, and Erik ten Hag’s side have nine games left this campaign, although they have one game less than those above them.
They are 11 points behind Aston Villa in fourth place.
Southgate will name a provisional Euro squad just days after the season ends before trimming the group for the competition.
