After a true horror season, the last question was whether Stina Nilsson would continue her biathlon career. She will, assured the Swede, who is far from thinking about quitting.
The 2022/23 biathlon season could hardly have gone worse for Stina Nilsson. Weaknesses on the shooting range were expected again this year from the former cross-country skier. To her own surprise and that of the Swedish coaches, the 29-year-old has also been weak on the cross-country ski run in recent months. The result was a series of places outside the top 30 and finally the transfer to the B team.
Nonetheless, Nilsson does not want to give up. “Especially before Christmas something didn’t work that held me back. It just wasn’t right,” she analyzed in an interview with the TV station “SVT”.
The Swede has no doubts that she will get her problems under control. “I definitely see myself going on for another three years, but right now I want to focus on next season because that’s right in front of me,” she explained.
Biathlon star wants to “throw a few things overboard”
To this day, Nilsson has not found out exactly where the problem lay last season. She hasn’t spoken to the coaches yet either, she said: “But I’ve thought about what I want to do. That’s where I am at the moment: I have to throw a few things overboard to straighten them out again.”
A few days ago, Nilsson presented himself in a similarly combative manner in the “Expressen” interview. There, too, she announces that she wants to tackle her problems. At the same time, she revealed that she was repeatedly thrown back by colds in 2022/23. Meanwhile, however, “I’m looking forward to starting work for next year,” said the 29-year-old.
