Emergency services were called to the Australian yard of the Container Freight Service in Port Botany, southeast Sydney on Wednesday at approximately 10.20 am.

The male employee, in his fifties, is in a critical state. Police and ambulance are on site.

NSW Ambulance Zone Manager Jordan Emery told the Daily telegram that five crews, including a medical collection team, are on site.

He also said that a chaplain had been called in to support personnel traumatized by the accident.

A police spokeswoman said SafeWork NSW had been notified of the incident.
