Due to serious health problems affecting his wife Marta, Dawid Kubacki decided to end the 2022/23 season early. Now there was good news for the Polish ski jumper and his family.
As the 33-year-old announced on Friday, his wife left the hospital. “We came home today,” Kubacki wrote in an emotional Instagram post, thanking the doctors for a “miracle.”
In mid-March, Marta Kubacki was admitted to a clinic in Zabrze because of cardiological problems, and the doctors were fighting for their lives in the meantime.
“Thank you for each and every one of your prayers, the good thoughts and words of encouragement,” wrote the two-time world champion in his contribution to a selfie that shows the couple smiling together in front of the hospital: “Marta is starting an intensive rehabilitation and I will start a new one get to know reality.”
According to Kubacki, his wife will wear a pacemaker in the future.
Great sympathy in the ski jumping scene
Despite the chances of winning the overall World Cup, the top jumper had ended his season about four weeks ago, and many of his teammates reacted with great sympathy.
The Kubackis have two children, their daughter Maja was born at the beginning of January during the Four Hills Tournament.
Kubacki is aiming for a comeback in the new season
The veteran, who has been one of the absolute top stars of the ski jumping scene for many years, wants to resume his career soon.
“I’m not lacking in enthusiasm and willingness. I want to continue my career and fight for the crystal ball and other trophies in the coming seasons. I know I’m capable of it,” announced Kubacki in a recent interview with Polish TV station “TVN”.
